About CECOM Hiring
CECOM seeks a well-rounded workforce and hires applicants from a wide variety of sources such as private industry, academia, other service components, and the public sector. From entry-level to upper management, career opportunities at CECOM range from computer science to logistics, human resources, finance, accounting, law, safety, public affairs, security, and more.
Career & Development Programs
The Internship Program provides students in high schools, community colleges, 4-year colleges, trade schools, career and technical education programs, and other qualifying educational institutions with paid opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while still in school. The Internship Program replaces the existing Student Temporary Employment Program and the Student Career Experience Program.
(a) Participants shall be students enrolled, or accepted for enrollment, in qualifying educational institutions and programs as determined by OPM.
(b) Agencies shall provide Interns with meaningful developmental work and set clear expectations regarding the work experience of the intern.
(c) Students employed by third-party internship providers but placed in agencies may, to the extent permitted by OPM regulations, be treated as participants in the Internship Program.
This program targets individuals who have graduated recently from qualifying educational institutions or programs. Applicants must apply within 2 years of degree or certificate completion, except for veterans precluded from doing so due to military service obligation, who have up to 6 years after degree or certificate completion.
The program, with a duration not to exceed 2 years, provides individuals who have recently graduated with developmental experiences in the Federal Government intended to promote possible careers in the civil service.
(a) Participants must have obtained a qualifying degree within the preceding 2 years, except that veterans may participate within 6 years of obtaining a qualifying degree due to their military service obligation.
(b) Responsibilities assigned shall be consistent with the participant's qualifications, educational background, career interests, and agency needs.
Cooperative Education provides the opportunity for the student, educational institution, and CECOM to enhance a student's career through a combination of classroom studies and on-the-job training. Students can serve their nation while receiving experience for future employment opportunities.
Co-op participants gain work experience while alternating between a semester of work and school. Benefits include practical experience in applying academic principles and theories, determining career opportunities and goals, building confidence, interpersonal skills, and exposure to state-of-the-art equipment and practices.
The Department of Army administers the Army Civilian Training, Education, and Development System (ACTEDS) Intern Program. ACTEDS is a requirements-based system that ensures planned development of civilian members through a blending of progressive work assignments, formal training, and self-development as individuals progress from entry level to key positions.
At each stage of the employee's career, the plan provides career guidance on training and developmental assignments designed to improve job performance and build qualifications for advancement to key positions.
ACTEDS focuses heavily on professional and leadership development and contains all core leadership curriculum developed by HQDA, including Intern Leadership Development, Organizational Leadership for Executives, Personnel Management for Executives, Army Management Staff College, Senior Service Colleges and University Programs.
Scholarship For Service (SFS) is a unique program designed to recruit and train the next generation of information technology professionals, industrial control system security professionals, and security managers to meet the needs of the cybersecurity mission for Federal, State, local, and tribal governments.
This program provides scholarships for up to 3 years of support for cybersecurity undergraduate and graduate (MS or PhD) education funded through NSF grants. In return, recipients must agree to work for the U.S. Government in a cybersecurity-related position for a period equal to the length of the scholarship.
Learn More About CyberCorp SFSThe SMART Scholarship-for-Service Program was established to enhance the Department of Defense workforce with talented scientists, engineers, and researchers. SMART Scholars work within labs and agencies of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and additional DoD components to support the warfighter and secure our nation.
The program offers scholarships for bachelor's, master's, and PhD students pursuing STEM fields. While in school, students receive full tuition, monthly stipends, health insurance, book allowances, and summer internships ranging from 8 to 12 weeks.
Upon degree completion, scholars begin working in a civilian position with their sponsoring facility, pursuing their passions while protecting national security.
